Assistant Model Upgrade

We are excited to announce that Assistant is receiving a model upgrade today. Four days ago, OpenAI released GPT-4.1, a new model suite that excels at instruction following and long context understanding.

As part of our commitment to moving fast and delivering best-in-class model performance, we are rolling out GPT-4.1 as the primary model powering Assist mode. Based on our testing, GPT-4.1 improves both baseline response quality and the maximum output length of Harvey’s responses.

Here’s more on what’s changing:

• Refreshed knowledge cutoff: Assist mode's knowledge cutoff is now June 2024 (previously October 2023).
• Expanded output length: Responses can now be up to 32,000 tokens–8x more than before.
• Quality improvements: In our internal evaluations, GPT-4.1 performed universally better across all quality axes and benchmarks.
• Vault and Workflows: Various features within Vault and Workflows now leverage the new models.
• No changes to security or privacy: This does not change any of our security or privacy terms.
• EU rollout: EU instances will receive this upgrade in the next two weeks.
