What’s New

Playbook managers can now create, upload, and edit playbooks directly through Harvey Assistant. This update introduces a more flexible, conversational approach to building and maintaining playbooks, reducing the need for manual, form-based workflows. You can now:

  • Create and edit playbooks conversationally, with guidance in Assistant
  • View a live side-by-side panel during creation to track rules and structure in real time
  • Use playbooks as a knowledge source in Assistant for context-aware guidance
  • Switch seamlessly between Assistant and the standard editor for manual adjustments and governance

Why It Matters

This release enables your teams to generate high-quality, precise first drafts more quickly and iterate on positions with less effort.

How to Use

Creating and Editing Playbooks with Assistant

Begin in Assistant by describing in natural language the new playbook or updates you’d like to make, or, engage Assistant while editing Playbooks in Settings.

For full how-to steps, refer to Create a Playbook.

Using a Playbook as a Source

When selecting a source in Assistant, you can now add a Playbook.

This can be useful for checking positions (e.g., “What’s our fallback on liability caps?”), or receiving AI guidance on how to understand positions and adjust rules, based on the Playbook.

Using Magic Rules (Improve)

The Improve option while editing uses the playbook's context — including existing rules, uploaded contracts, or template agreements — to automatically suggest well-structured rules that match the playbook's scope and tone.

Generated rules appear in the Playbook panel for review before being added, reducing manual authoring effort and helping ensure consistency across the playbook.

FAQs

Q: How is this different from the existing Playbook editor?

The existing editor will remain available for manual creation and governance. With this update, Assistant will handle the initial drafting and iteration, allowing you to focus on refining and approving content rather than building from scratch.

Q: Can I still edit playbooks manually?

Yes. You will be able to move between Assistant and the standard Playbook editor at any time. Assistant is designed to accelerate drafting and revision, while the editor continues to support detailed control, publishing, and version management.

Q: What inputs can I use to create a playbook?

You will be able to create playbooks from scratch by describing rules in natural language, or by uploading documents such as a playbook or standard templates. Assistant will convert these inputs into structured playbook rules that can be reviewed and refined.
