Release Notes
Create Outlook email drafts from Harvey threads, Word, and agents
Harvey can now create email drafts directly in your Outlook Drafts folder from threads in the web app, the Harvey for Word add-in, and agents, in addition to the Harvey for Outlook add-in.
What's New
You can now create email drafts in your Outlook Drafts folder from more places in Harvey:
- In a Harvey thread: Ask Harvey to draft an email in a thread, review it in the draft panel, and send it to Outlook as a draft. Drafts can include attachments, such as documents you uploaded to the thread, documents that Harvey generated, or files from a Vault.
- Harvey for Word add-in: After working on a document, ask Harvey to draft an email, such as a summary of your changes. Review the draft in the add-in, then send the draft to Outlook.
- Agents: Agents that use the Outlook connector can create email drafts as an output. For example, an agent can review your inbox and prepare first-pass replies to quick questions or confirmations of receipt. If the agent runs on a schedule, it can create drafts in Outlook each time it runs.
Why It Matters
Much of legal work ends in an email, whether that's sending research to a partner, walking a client through your markup, or following up on a quiet thread. With this update, Harvey can now prepare an Outlook draft where your work happens, with recipients, subject, and body filled in. The draft then waits in Outlook for you to review, edit, and send.
How to Use
Create an Outlook Draft from a Thread
- In a thread, ask Harvey to draft an email. Mention Outlook in your prompt, or enable the Outlook connector from the
Sources menu.

- Select Open in Outlook
.
- Open the draft in your Outlook Drafts folder to make final edits before sending.
Create a Draft from the Harvey for Word Add-In
- In the Harvey for Word add-in, select the
icon and add the Outlook connector as a knowledge source.
- Ask Harvey to draft an email.
- Review and edit the draft in the add-in.
- Select
Create draft.
- Open the draft in your Outlook Drafts folder to make final edits before sending.
Notes & Limitations
- Drafts can be created in personal Microsoft 365 Outlook mailboxes. Shared mailboxes aren't supported.
- Attachments can only be included on drafts created from threads within the Harvey web app. Drafts created from the Harvey for Word add-in or Harvey for Outlook add-in don't include attachments.
- Scheduled agents are personal, so their drafts go to the mailbox of the person who owns the agent.
FAQs
Q: How is this different from drafting in the Harvey for Outlook add-in?
The Harvey for Outlook add-in drafts emails while you're working in Outlook. This update lets Harvey create Outlook drafts from your work in Harvey threads, the Harvey for Word add-in, and with agents.
Q: Can I review a draft that a scheduled agent created?
Yes. Open the agent's previous run in Harvey’s History page to view the draft. You can also find it in your Outlook Drafts folder.
Q: What if I don't have the option to create Outlook drafts?
Creating Outlook drafts requires the Outlook connector full inbox search, which your workspace admin enables through the Outlook connector. If you don't have the option, ask your admin whether full inbox search is enabled for you.
