What’s New
Harvey Academy now offers structured certification tracks so you can build, demonstrate, and advance your legal AI proficiency on your terms. This release includes:
- A new Level 1: Legal Engineering Certification; an introduction to the core skills of this emerging role.
- A new Level 1: Foundations Certification, where every Harvey practitioner starts.
- Digital badges issued through Credly, the platform behind many of the world's most recognized product certification programs.
Why It Matters
Level 1: Legal Engineering Certification
AI is creating new possibilities for legal work, and new opportunities for the professionals who understand both law and technology. Because Legal Engineering is still taking shape, the people doing this work today have an opportunity to help define what the profession becomes.

Level 1: Foundations
Before you can leverage AI tools to sharpen your practice, it’s important to understand how they work and where your judgement remains essential.
Foundations covers core AI literacy, common legal use cases, and how to evaluate AI outputs with appropriate skepticism and professional judgment.
In addition to core concepts in AI, Level 1 introduces the theory behind structured, high-stakes work: how extraction prompts are designed for consistent results, how tools like Harvey's Review Tables apply to large-scale contract analysis, and what a verification framework looks like before AI-generated output is used.
After completing Foundations, you’ll be prepared to incorporate AI tooling into your workflows.
Note: Level 1 is built from two existing Academy courses, AI for Legal Basics and AI Analysis for Legal Workflows. If you completed both before August 17, 2026 review our FAQs below to learn how you’ll receive your certification badge.
Your credentials, now issued through Credly by Pearson
Every Harvey Academy certification now comes with a digital badge issued through Credly. Badges are verified, skills-tagged credentials that you own and control, can share anywhere (LinkedIn, email, CV), and that live in one profile showing your learning path. With Credly, your credentials become something you can prove, share, and get credit for wherever your career takes you.
How to Use
Both certifications are free, and current Harvey Academy certifications do not expire.
Now when you complete a certification, you'll receive an email from Harvey via Credly sent to the address on your Academy account, inviting you to claim your badge. Accept it, and the badge lands in your Credly profile ready to share.
