Agentic Vault Search
Attach a full Vault to your query and let Harvey find the right documents on its own, without manually selecting files first.
What's New
With agentic Vault search, you can now attach one or more full Vaults to your query (or work in a Space with Vaults already attached) and ask your question directly. Harvey browses your Vault folders, searches by file name and content, looks at document metadata, and narrows down to the relevant files. Harvey then reads the relevant portions of each document it finds and generates a response with citations back to the specific files.
Why It Matters
Querying a large Vault used to require selecting the specific files for Harvey to read. For Vaults with thousands of files, that meant scrolling through long file lists and guessing which documents were relevant before Harvey could start.
Agentic Vault search removes that step, so you can attach the whole Vault and get answers across large data rooms, discovery productions, and other document sets without pre-selecting files. Because each response cites the specific files and pages it used, you can verify exactly what Harvey drew on to reach its answer.

Notes & Limitations
- You can attach up to two Vaults to a single Assistant query.
- Vaults with more than 10,000 files still require you to select specific files first, rather than attaching the full Vault. Harvey is working toward supporting larger full-Vault attachments.
- Uploading a single file directly to a conversation, without attaching a Vault, works the same as it does today.
- Harvey reads the text extracted from your documents during upload processing. For most documents this matches the original, though heavily formatted PDFs or scanned documents with OCR issues may read slightly differently than what you see in the original file.
FAQs
Q: Does the agent see files I don't have permission to view?
No. The agent operates based on your existing Vault permissions and respects your firm's ethical walls, so it can only access Vaults and files you are already permitted to view.
Q: Can the agent change files in my Vault?
No. Agentic Vault Search is read-only. The agent browses and reads Vault files to answer your question, but it does not modify, move, rename, or delete them.
Q: Is the agent's file access logged?
Yes. File access by the agent is recorded in your workspace's audit trail.
