Overview
Client matter numbers now live on individual documents in Harvey, not just the resource it sits in.
Previously, a Vault or thread carried one client matter which was inherited by every file contained within it. Now, each file carries its own client matter and a record of where it came from. This makes it easier to manage Harvey resources that hold documents for more than one matter, like a precedent or practice-group vault.
If enabled, ethical walls enforce against the file directly. For vaults, you must have access to all documents within the Vault for access. Threads require you to have access to every client matter involved before you can access the resource at all.
During Early Access, we will update the behavior with Vaults to provide a filtered view of content. Vaults will hide files you're walled off from while still giving the user access to the remaining content.
This release is scoped to iManage. Files that are synced in an iManage Vault will inherit assigned client matter numbers. Files that are uploaded from iManage to non-synced Vaults or to Harvey threads will also inherit client matter numbers.
How to Use
You’ll see a specific client matter number attached to a file if it’s been inherited from iManage.
- Vault: Files and folders in a Vault display their assigned client matter in a dedicated Client Matter column.
- Threads: When an iManage file is attached to a thread, its assigned client matter is automatically added to the matter selector.
Notes & Limitations
- A file can carry exactly one client matter, it cannot be tagged to multiple matters.
