Overview
The Personal Vault is a private vault that Harvey creates for you in your workspace. When you upload files from your computer to a thread, a workflow run, or a standalone review table, Harvey saves them to your Personal Vault with a separate subfolder for each. This means you can reuse them in later threads and review tables instead of uploading them again.
Because your uploads live in one place, you can ask Harvey about them directly. For example, ask Harvey to use the files from your last thread, or to summarize the files you uploaded last week.
Key Features
- Automatic saving: File uploads save to your Personal Vault with no extra steps, and the files chip in the thread shows where they went.
- Reuse across your work: Attach saved files to a new thread or review table, or attach your whole Personal Vault as context.
- Private to you: Only you can browse your Personal Vault. A teammate can view specific files through a thread you share or a review table you share as view-only. Workspace Admins can still see Personal Vaults via the Command Center.
How To Use
Open Your Personal Vault
- Go to
Vault. - Select the Private tab at the top of the page. Your Personal Vault appears in the list with a lock icon next to it.
- Select Personal Vault to open it and browse your uploaded files.
Add Files to Your Personal Vault
Harvey automatically adds any files you use in a thread, workflow run, or standalone review table to your Personal Vault. Each file is saved in a separate subfolder for each instance of work, and later uploads in the same thread go to the same subfolder.
You can also upload files to your Personal Vault directly. Open your Personal Vault, then drag files in to the file list to upload them, or select the 
Upload files button.
Reuse Files in a New Thread
You can attach your Personal Vault as a source to a new thread, allowing Harvey to access files you’ve used in other threads.
- Open a New thread and select
Files. - Find your Personal Vault and enable it, or choose Select files to only attach specific subfolders or files from previous threads.
- Send your query. Harvey will use the files in your Personal Vault as a source for your request.
Manage Your Files
Your Personal Vault works like any other vault. Rename, move, download, and delete files, and create folders to organize them.
Note: Deleting a file from your Personal Vault also removes it from threads that used it.

FAQs
Q: What retention policy applies to Personal Vault files?
Files follow your workspace's Assistant retention policy. If a thread containing the file is still retained, the file will also be retained. If there are no active threads referencing the file, then the file will be removed. Retention is measured from the file's last use (the most recent thread or run that used it), not from when the thread was created, so actively reused files stay retained.
Q: Can I share my Personal Vault with teammates?
No. Only you can access your Personal Vault. To collaborate on files, move them into a shared vault first.
Q: What happens when my Personal Vault reaches its file limit?
Your Personal Vault holds up to 100,000 files, the same as a regular vault, and files are cleared out after 12 months of inactivity. If the cap is reached, Harvey blocks new uploads with a "vault full" message and never deletes files to make room. Free up space by deleting or moving files.
Q: Can I share threads or Review Tables built from Personal Vault files?
Yes. Sharing a thread gives the recipient view access to the files it uses, and you can share a Review Table built on Personal Vault files as view-only. Recipients see the results but can't run or re-run the table.
Q: Does Harvey save model-generated outputs too?
No. Harvey only saves uploaded files. Saving outputs may come as a later feature.
Q: Does Harvey deduplicate files I've already uploaded elsewhere?
No. Harvey saves the file to your Personal Vault even if it exists in another vault, and re-uploading the same file adds another copy.
Q: Do guest users get a Personal Vault?
No. Guest uploads work the same as before.
Q: Does this work on mobile?
No. Mobile uploads work as before and are not added to your Personal Vault.
Q: Can I still add files to my existing review tables?
Review tables created with computer-uploaded files before the addition of the Personal Vault do not support new file additions. Existing files and columns still work as normal. To add files, create a new review table.
