What's Coming

Dry Run will let you test a new or edited column prompt on the first ten rows of a review table before running it on every file. You can check the wording and refine it without waiting on a full run.

Use Cases

  • Refining a prompt on a large table: An associate editing an extraction prompt on a 500-document review table sees results on the first ten rows in seconds, instead of waiting for the full run to find out whether the wording works.
  • Working in a shared table: A GC’s team sees which columns are outdated, so nobody takes partial results for final ones while a teammate is still iterating.

Feature Highlights

Test prompts on a sample

  • Ten rows first: Every new column and every edit to a column's prompt runs on the first ten rows instead of every file.
  • Verified and locked cells stay put: Dry runs skip them, and they keep their existing value.

Track what needs a full run

  • Outdated columns: Harvey marks a column outdated until it has run on all rows under the latest prompt, so nobody mistakes partial results for final ones.
  • Dependent columns: A conditional column also shows as outdated while the column it references is in dry run.

Run the full column

  • From the column popover: Click Run.
  • From the cells: Hover over a cell that hasn't run and click Run column.
  • In bulk: Click Outdated in the top right, then run one column or all outdated columns at once.
  • Who can run it: Any user with edit access to the review table.

FAQs

Q: Will a dry run overwrite my verified or locked cells?
A: No. Verified and locked cells keep their value and state on dry runs and full runs.

Q: Can I skip the dry run and run a column on all files?
A: No. Every new column or prompt edit runs on the first ten rows before you can run the full column. This version has no bypass.

Q: Do new files get a dry run?
A: No. New files run without a dry run, no matter how many you add, because the prompt hasn't changed.

Q: Does a dry run affect columns that reference it?
A: Yes. A conditional column that references a column in dry run shows as outdated until you fully run the referenced column.

Q: Can I undo a run?
A: No. Runs don't have version history or undo.
