Upcoming Feature
Easier Save, Share, and Use Review Table Templates
Save any review table as a template, share it and apply it anywhere, without going through Workflow Builder.
What’s Coming
Review Table Templates will move off Workflow Builder. Saving a review table as a template will open a short flow with a live preview, publish the template on save and prompt you to share it. Templates will live under the Templates tab on the review table homepage and in Library, where you can filter, preview and apply them before adding files, after adding files or as new columns on an existing table.
Use Cases
- Standardizing a practice group’s review: A senior M&A associate saves a diligence table as a template and shares it with the deal team in the same step. New associates start from the firm’s vetted columns rather than rebuilding them.
- Governing templates workspace-wide: A legal ops lead decides who can create templates and approves which ones go workspace-wide, so the workspace has one trusted set rather than a sprawl of one-off versions.
- Adding standard columns mid-review: A litigator already working in a table pulls in a chronology template’s columns without re-selecting files.
Feature Highlights
Saving a template
- Save a template from any review table without opening Workflow Builder, or start from Library’s Create entry point by choosing an existing review table.
- Confirm the template’s details and columns in a save flow with a live preview that updates as you type.
- Saving publishes the template. There is no separate publish step.
- After saving, the flow prompts you to share with individuals or groups, or to request approval to share with the whole workspace.
- Users with the manage review table template permission approve workspace-wide requests and can share workspace-wide without approval.
- A one-time tooltip shows where to find the saved template and where to edit it.
Finding and using a template
- Browse templates from the Templates tab on the review table homepage or the Review Tables tab in Library. Each template shows its title, document type, practice area, creator and creation date.
- Search, sort, filter by practice area, document type or creator, and preview a template’s columns before applying it.
- Apply a template when creating a review table, before or after adding files, or add its columns to an existing table. Files selected in Vault carry into review table creation, and you won’t re-select files you’ve already added.
Editing and managing templates
- Users with the use review table template permission and edit access can change template details and columns: names, prompts, types, attached files, conditional references, table instructions and language.
- Duplicating a template requires the create permission and view access to the template. Deleting or sharing one requires the create permission and manage access to the template.
- Users with the manage review table template permission can view, edit or delete any template in the workspace without a direct share, and approve workspace-wide sharing requests.
FAQs
Q: Will my existing review table templates still work?
A: Yes. Existing templates, including those built in Workflow Builder, work in the new experience. A few Workflow Builder-only actions go away: separate publish/unpublish, test, export, history, manage files, external cloning and converting a template into a regular workflow.
Q: Who can create and share templates?
A: By default, all users can use and create templates, and creators can share with individuals or groups. Sharing to the whole workspace needs approval from a user with the manage review table template permission. Those users can also share directly and manage any template in the workspace.
Q: Why can’t I save my review table as a template?
A: You need two things: the review table’s view prompts permission turned on (same as today) and the create review table template permission from your admin.
