Use Harvey to Build Review Tables from Templates in Spaces

In a Space, Harvey can build review tables from your saved review table templates and create one table per document type in a single turn, so a large data room becomes several smaller tables that each practice group can verify on its own.

What’s Coming

In a Space, the Harvey agent will build review tables from the review table templates your team has saved to that Space. Ask it to use your templates and it sorts the Space’s documents by type, matches each type to a template and builds a table from that template’s columns, so every table asks your firm’s standard questions rather than new ones the agent writes on the fly. It can also build several tables in one turn, one per document type.

Use Cases

  • Splitting a data room by document type: An M&A associate connects a 100-plus document data room to a Space and asks for one table per document type. Harvey builds separate tables for employment, commercial and other contracts, each from the firm’s template. (e.g. “Sort the documents in this space by document type and create a review table for each type using our saved review table templates.”)
  • Handing first-pass review to practice groups: Each practice area gets its own table with its own question set, so employment, IP or finance colleagues review and verify their documents without working out of one shared table.
  • Keeping extraction consistent across deals: In-house legal or corporate development reviews a target’s contracts with the company’s template for each contract type, so Harvey asks the same questions every time. (e.g. “Use our Employment Agreement Review template on the employment agreements in this vault.”)

Feature Highlights

  • Use your firm’s templates: When a prompt references saved templates, or names one, the agent builds the table from that template’s columns. Extraction stays consistent from table to table and deal to deal.
  • Match templates to document types: The agent sorts the Space’s documents by type and pairs each type with the right saved template.
  • Create one table per document type: In a single prompt, the agent can build a separate review table for each document type in the Space. A 100-plus document data room becomes several smaller tables that practice groups can review and verify on their own (e.g. “Sort the documents in this space by document type and create a review table for each type using our saved review table templates”).

Instructions

  1. Add the review table template to the space. You can do so by finding the review table template in the Library, clicking Share, and selecting the space you'd like to share it to.
  2. In the space, remove the space context chip. Then, add the vault that you'd like to create the review table on. Note that you cannot yet use this feature with multiple vaults.
  3. Then ask Harvey to build a review table using any template in the space, explicitly asking Harvey to use a template. Harvey will nudge you to confirm the columns, then build the review table.

Limitations

Currently, this capability only works for asking the agent to use a review table template within a space. You must remove the space context chip and add the vault that you'd like to generate the review table on. We plan on addressing the following in later milestones:

  • Asking Harvey to create multiple review tables from multiple review table templates in a single turn
  • Asking Harvey to build a review table over multiple vaults
  • Asking Harvey to build a review table using a template outside of a space

FAQs

Q: Does this work outside of a Space?
A: No. The agent only finds and uses review table templates that users have added to a Space.

Q: Where do the templates come from?
A: From review table templates your team has created and added to the Space. Add them before asking the agent to use them.

Q: Will Harvey apply a template on its own?
A: Only when your prompt asks it to. Say you want to use your saved templates, or name the template, in the prompt.

Q: Why use a template instead of letting Harvey write its own questions?
A: Templates keep extraction consistent. Harvey asks the same firm-standard questions every time, so results are easier to trust, verify and compare across tables.

Q: Can one review table pull documents from more than one vault?

Not yet. Multi-source review tables, and review tables built from files across multiple vaults, aren't part of this launch. Make sure to remove the space context chip (highlighted below) from the top left of your composer, then adding the vaults you’d like to use, before submitting your request to build a review table from a template.

Q: How does Harvey narrow down the documents the review table template is applied to?
A: Harvey looks at the document classification for each document and matches it with the document classification associated with the template. You can edit any document's classification from its vault, and you can edit the review table template's document classification from your Library.
