What’s Coming

We’re introducing Shaped Web Search, a more flexible and configurable way to search the open web in Harvey. Today, web search follows a single, default path: enter a query, run a search, and review the results. While this works well for many workflows, it doesn’t allow users to tailor how search behaves when precision and control matter most.

Shaped Web Search will let users influence where and how Harvey searches the web. By adding lightweight configuration options directly into the web search experience, users will be able to narrow results to specific domains, exclude unwanted sources, and prioritize more authoritative websites—without disrupting the default “just ask” flow.

This approach brings back the power of advanced search in a way that’s designed for professional research, balancing discoverability with control and helping teams get more relevant, trustworthy results from the web.

Feature Highlights

  • Configure web search to focus on specific domains (e.g., only .gov sites)
  • Limit searches to themed groups of websites, such as financial or news sources
  • Exclude unwanted or noisy domains from results
  • Up-rank preferred or authoritative domains to improve relevance
  • Access advanced controls through the existing knowledge source filter experience, with no added friction for standard searches

FAQ

Q: When should I use Shaped Web Search instead of standard web search?

Shaped Web Search will be useful when you already know the types of sources you want to rely on—such as regulatory sites, financial data providers, or industry-specific publications—and want to reduce noise in the results.

Q: Do I have to configure search every time I use the web?

No. The default web search experience will remain unchanged. Shaped Web Search options will be available when you want more control, without adding steps to the standard workflow.

Q: How specific can I be when shaping a search?

You’ll be able to shape search at a high level (for example, “credible financial websites”) as well as through more concrete constraints like including or excluding particular domains.
