Release Notes
Tagging a Space to Client Matter
If your workspace has client matters enabled, Spaces can now be tagged to an individual client matter.
Important: This feature is rolling out in phases from October 14 through October 28, 2026. If you have questions about when this update will land in your workspace, contact your Customer Success Manager.
Overview
You can now tag a Space to a client matter, allowing you to track and review spaces based on the client matter assigned to them.
If your workspace has an ethical walls integration enabled in Harvey, the client matter tag will also enforce the wall on the Space: only users cleared for that client matter can open it and any resources tagged to a walled client matter (i.e., a client matter that the user is walled from) are hidden.
Key Features
- One Matter per Space: Tag, change, or clear a Space's matter.
- Automatic Query Matter Inheritance: Queries in a tagged Space carry its client matter automatically. If a Space does not have a client matter tagged to it, you can still pick a client matter when querying.
- Wall Enforcement on Spaces: In ethical walls workspaces, a Space's matter governs who can open it, what can be added, and what stays visible.
Why It Matters
Spaces are the central workspace for client matter work, organizing all work on the matter within a single area.
For workspaces with ethical walls enabled, Spaces now follow the same matter-based walls as other Harvey resources. A Space tagged to a walled client matter is designed to limit access to users cleared for that matter and to keep resources from other matters out of the Space.
How to Use
