Overview
Transcripts from your Harvey mobile recordings now open in a dedicated transcript view instead of as DOCX files. In this view, you can search a transcript by keyword, correct it, and check it against the original recording.
Key Features
- Speaker labeling: Assign names to detected speakers. Harvey applies each name everywhere that speaker appears in the transcript.
- Inline editing: Edit transcript text directly to correct transcription errors.
- Audio playback: Play back the full recording, or the audio for an individual line, to check the transcript against the original conversation.
How to Use
Record and save a transcript as usual: in the Assistant tab of the mobile app, select Record & transcribe, select Finish when you’re done, and choose the Vault to save to. For full recording steps, refer to Record & Transcribe Audio.
Open a transcript
- Open the Vault where you saved the recording.
- Select the recording. The transcript opens in the transcript view, with each segment labeled by speaker and timestamp.
Note: A transcript may take a few minutes to process before it appears in the Vault.
Search a transcript
- In the transcript view, select
Search.
- Enter a keyword or phrase. Harvey highlights each match so you can jump directly to that part of the conversation.
Edit Speaker Labels
Harvey identifies each speaker and assigns them generic labels (Speaker 1, speaker 2, etc.). To edit custom speaker names:
- Select a transcript segment.
- In the Edit segment popover, select an existing speaker label to edit it, or select + New speaker to add a new speaker.
- Harvey applies the name to every segment from that speaker.
Edit Transcript Text
- Select the transcript segment you want to change.
- In the Edit segment popover, edit the text to correct the transcription.
- Confirm your change. Edits are saved to the transcript in the Vault.
Play the Full Recording
- Select
Play in the playback bar. The transcript scrolls along with the audio.
- Drag the progress bar to jump to a different point, or use the 15-second buttons to skip back or ahead.
Play a Single Line
Select the timestamp next to any segment to play just that portion of the recording. Playback starts at that point, so you can compare what was said against the transcribed text.
Note: Your transcript may take a few minutes to process before it can be viewed in Vault.
FAQs
Why can't I play back audio for a transcript?
Audio playback depends on your firm's audio retention setting. If your firm has not enabled audio retention, Harvey keeps the transcript but not the recording. Contact your firm's Harvey admin to check this setting.
How long can a recording be?
Recordings can run for up to two hours.
Can my firm turn off mobile transcription?
Yes. Admins can disable mobile transcription for specific people or user groups.
