Enable the Harvey Outlook Add-In for Your Workspace

Learn how to enable Harvey for Outlook for your organization, from centralized deployment to on-premise sideloading and managing user permissions.

Overview

This article covers how Harvey workspace administrators can deploy and enable the Harvey Outlook add-in across their organization.

Once enabled, users can refer to Download and Install the Harvey Outlook Add-In to start using the Harvey add-in within Outlook.


Deploying Harvey for Outlook in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center

If your organization requires IT approval for all add-ins before employees can access them, admins can deploy Harvey for Outlook across the organization by:


Alternative Deployments

Sideloading Harvey for Outlook

In rare cases (such as on-premise environments), IT admins may sideload the add-in locally:

  1. In File Explorer, go to the parent folder or drive where you want to create the shared folder catalog.
  2. Add the appropriate XML file (from below) to this folder.
  3. Right-click the folder, select Properties, and open the Sharing tab.
  4. Select Share and add the users/groups who need access (grant at least Read/Write permissions).
  5. After confirming the folder is shared, note the full network path (you’ll need this as the Catalog URL).
  6. Select the Done button and close the Properties dialog window to complete setup.

Please use these files if your organization hosts mailboxes on Exchange Server 2016, 2019, or Subscription Edition or sees an error that Mailbox API 1.13 is unsupported.


Enabling the Harvey Outlook Add-in For Your Workspace

You can enable the Harvey Outlook add-in for your organization’s users via the Integrations page in Command Center.

  1. Go to Command Center → Configurations → Integrations.
  2. Find the listing for Outlook and select Add, then follow the enablement steps.

To disconnect the integration, select Manage and disconnect the API.


Enabling Full Inbox Search For Your Workspace

Full inbox search is an optional feature that enables your organization’s users to connect their Outlook inboxes to the Harvey web app to search their emails as a source.

To enable full inbox search for your workspace:

  1. Open the Outlook add-in.
  2. In the authorization panel on the right, select Enable. Depending on your organization’s IT set-up and permissions granted with Microsoft, an additional authorization step may be needed to grant new permissions. Refer to Outlook Connector in Harvey: Security and Data Privacy for additional details.

  3. On the next screen, select Continue.

  4. Fill out the Roles and Users fields to grant access to users in your workspace, then select Enable.

You can manage the Outlook connector at any time in Command Center → Configurations → Integrations.


Managing Users and Roles for the Harvey Outlook Add-In

You can manage role and user access for the Harvey Outlook add-in via the Ecosystem page in Command Center.

  1. Go to Command Center → Configurations → Ecosystem.
  2. Locate the Harvey for Outlook add-in.
  3. Select Manage to view users and roles with access. You can also add roles or users in this field.
  4. Select View users to remove access for roles or users via the Users or Roles page.
