Import Memory from Another AI Platform
Bring your saved preferences, professional context, and instructions into Harvey.
Last updated: Oct 7, 2026
Overview
If you already use another AI platform, you can import the information it remembers about you into Harvey. This helps Harvey provide responses that reflect your working preferences without requiring you to rebuild that context manually.
The import process has three parts:
- Run an export prompt in your current AI platform.
- Review the exported information.
- Import the information into Harvey using our guided uploading experience.
Important: Review all exported information before importing it into Harvey. Remove any incorrect or outdated information that you do not want stored in Harvey. Follow your organization’s policies when transferring information between services.
Memory imports do not transfer your complete conversation history, uploaded files, subscriptions, or account settings.
Before You Start
Have the AI platform that holds your memories (for example, Claude or ChatGPT) open in a separate tab. You'll switch between it and Harvey during the import.
You should also make sure that:
- You have access to the AI platform containing your existing memory.
- Memory is enabled for your Harvey account and workspace.
- You understand your organization’s policies for transferring information from another service.
Note: If you do not see Memory in your settings, the feature may not be enabled for your workspace or role. Contact your Harvey workspace admin for assistance.
Open the Memory Import Flow
- At the bottom of Harvey's main menu, select your name or email.
- In the popover, select
Personal Settings.
- Select
Memory.
- Select the ellipsis (…) menu, then select
Import memories.
The Import memories to Harvey flow opens, showing both steps of the import. Proceed to Step 1 below.
Step 1: Export Your Memory from Another Provider

- Under Step 1, select
Copy to copy the export prompt.
- Switch to your other AI platform and start a new conversation.
- Paste the export prompt from Harvey and send it.
- Wait for the platform to finish generating its response.
- Once the platform finishes its response, copy the complete response.
Tip: Already have a memory export from another Harvey workspace? Select Upload file instead of copying the prompt, then skip Step 2 and select the Start import button.
Step 2: Paste and Review Your Memory

- Return to Harvey.
- Under Step 2, paste the response into the text field.
- Review the text and remove anything outdated, incorrect, or that you don't want Harvey to use in future conversations.
- Select Start import.
Harvey imports the memories you kept.
Exporting Memories From Harvey
Export your memories when you want to move them to another AI platform or to a different Harvey workspace.
- At the bottom of Harvey’s main menu, select your name or email.
- In the popover, select
Personal Settings.
- Select
Memory.
- Select the ellipsis (…) menu, then select
Export memories.
Harvey downloads your memories as a CSV file to your device.

Troubleshooting
Go through the following steps if your import fails in Harvey:
- Confirm that you copied the complete response from the other platform.
- Remove unsupported formatting or attachments.
- If the response is very long, divide it into smaller sections and import them separately.
- Refresh the page and try again.
If the issue continues, contact Harvey Support and include the error message and a screenshot. Do not send the memory contents unless requested through an approved support channel.
