What's New

Agentic Outlook brings the agent capabilities from the Harvey web app and Word add-in into the Harvey Outlook add-in. Instead of answering a single question about a single email, Harvey can now reason across multiple emails and keep context when you switch between reading an email and composing a reply.

Agent capabilities in the Outlook add-in:

  • Draft and edit emails that you approve in one click
  • Generate Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files directly in a thread
  • Reason across multiple emails and their attachments in one conversation
  • Multi-select emails to take bulk actions, such as saving to Vault
  • View past Outlook add-in threads in the add-in or in your history in Web
  • Connect your firm's Knowledge Sources (document libraries, web search, and API connectors) from the add-in
  • Apply your Writing Styles so drafts match your tone and voice
  • Choose which model to use for a query with the model selector
  • Link your Harvey account with your firm's SSO to stay authenticated across Outlook and Harvey

Full inbox search (optional):

When enabled by a workspace admin, Harvey can also:

  • Find a specific email by its contents or sender
  • Summarize your recent emails and surface key takeaways
  • Return results with citations and direct links to the source emails

Why It Matters

The Harvey Outlook add-in is now able to reason across related emails and attachments, draft and revise replies, and produce documents without leaving your inbox. With full inbox search enabled, you can also locate emails and pull together takeaways from across your mailbox in place, with citations back to the source, instead of switching tools to search through your inbox.

How to Use

For more details on using the Harvey Outlook add-in, refer to Harvey Outlook Add-In: How to Use.

For more details on setting up full inbox search in your Harvey Outlook add-in, refer to Download and Install the Harvey Outlook Add-In.

If your organization does not currently have the Harvey Outlook add-in or full inbox search configured, admins can find enablement details in the Enable the Harvey Outlook Add-In in Your Workspace article.

Notes & Limitations

  • Full inbox search works only for native Outlook and Microsoft 365 mailboxes
  • Email citations open in a new Outlook desktop window. In Web or Word, and in Outlook if the link fails, the citation displays in Harvey's HTML preview with a separate link to Outlook on the web
  • Outlook thread history shown in the Web app's user and workspace history is read-only, consistent with Harvey for Word

FAQs

Q: What happens to my existing Harvey Outlook add-in setup?

Current Harvey Outlook add-in customers are upgraded to the agentic Outlook automatically. There is no need to reinstall the add-in. Base agent capabilities are available once your workspace is upgraded; full inbox search remains a separate, admin-enabled option.

Q: Does full inbox search require admin consent, and can we disable it for specific users?

Yes. Your IT administrator must approve Harvey's access to Microsoft mailboxes at the organizational level before any individual user can connect. The feature is enabled or disabled at the workspace level, and guest users cannot connect. Individual users can disconnect their own Outlook account at any time from Settings.

Q: Are there security updates I should be aware of for this release?

For customers using agentic Outlook with full inbox search disabled, there are no net-new security considerations. For customers using full inbox search, refer to Outlook Connector in Harvey: Security and Data Privacy for privacy and data security details.

Q: Can the Harvey Outlook add-in search my Online Archive mailbox?

No. Your Online Archive (also called an In-Place Archive) is a separate mailbox Microsoft provides for long-term storage, kept apart from your primary mailbox. Add-ins like Harvey for Outlook are not supported within these mailboxes.
